Kaveh Khajavi, MD, FACS, FAANS

Dr. Kaveh Khajavi is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in complex and minimally invasive spinal surgery. A recognized leader in minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery and sports neurosurgery, Dr. Khajavi has published numerous scholarly articles and book chapters in the fields of spinal and brain disorders, and remains active in clinical research and teaching.

Dr. Khajavi is the Neurosurgical Consultant for the Atlanta Falcons, Major league Rugby, the Georgia Swarm, and Georgia State University Athletics.
Additionally, he serves on the advisory boards of the Brain Injury Association of Georgia, the Georgia Concussion Coalition, and Kids & Pros. Dr. Khajavi utilizes the most advanced techniques and treatments, and personalizes the care of each patient. He is extremely conservative, believing that surgery should only be used as a last resort.

Dr. Khajavi served in active duty with the Department of Neurosurgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, becoming the first Air Force officer appointed to its neurosurgery department. He led the Epilepsy and Functional Surgery sections while holding an appointment as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, with a secondary role in Neurology. In 2002, he returned to Atlanta and founded Georgia Spine & Neurosurgery Center in 2003, now located on the campus of Northside Hospital Atlanta.

He is widely recognized as a leader in minimally invasive spine surgery, with additional expertise in complex spine and sports neurosurgery, including concussion and traumatic spine injury management. Dr. Khajavi has authored numerous scholarly articles and book chapters on spinal and brain disorders and has received national recognition for advancing minimally invasive complex spine surgery. He remains active in clinical research and teaching, frequently traveling to instruct surgeons in advanced techniques, and holds clinical faculty appointments in physical therapy at Mercer University and Georgia State University.
He served as Neurosurgical Consultant to the Atlanta Falcons for 12 years and previously advised the Atlanta Thrashers, Major League Rugby, Rugby ATL, Georgia Swarm, and Georgia State University Athletics. He has served on the advisory boards of the Brain Injury Association of Georgia and Kids & Pros, and is the founder and Chief Medical Officer of StartBox, a cloud based surgical safety platform. He also holds more than 20 patents related to surgical devices and safety innovations.
