Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery

Minimally invasive complex spinal surgery is our specialty. For us, minimally invasive is not a catch phrase or a marketing term, it marks an underlying philosophy of how to treat our patients.

Some of the conditions that we routinely treat with minimally invasive or less invasive spinal surgery techniques include but are not limited to herniated discs, spondylolisthesis, adult (degenerative) scoliosis, instability, failed previous surgeries/nonunion, sacroiliac joint pain, and degenerative disc disease.

Gamma Knife

The Gamma Knife offers patients an alternative to traditional open-skull brain surgery or microsurgery that minimizes patient risk and physical trauma while accurately treating malformed brain tissue. The Gamma Knife is a non-invasive and non-surgical treatment that eliminates the physical trauma and many of the risks associated with conventional open brain surgery. Complications from traditional surgery may include infection, spinal fluid leakage, bleeding, nerve dysfunction, and heart or lung problems.

Brain/Cranial Procedures

Brain surgery is most often done for patients with brain tumors. Surgery may be indicated for the more benign brain tumors, such as meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, and pituitary adenoma’s, as well as for malignant brain tumors such as glioblastoma multiforme and other types of malignant gliomas. Surgery for metastatic tumors, which are tumors that start somewhere else in the body and spread to the brain, is also very commonly performed. In fact, metastatic brain tumors are more common than primary brain tumors.

Cervical Procedures

Pain in and around the neck is a relatively common condition. This pain can be caused by a number of medical conditions, such as neck strain and injury, herniated discs, pinched nerves, and infections to name a few. Just as there are many conditions associated with neck pain, there are many treatment options as well.

Thoracic and Lumbar Procedures

Back pain is one of the most common reasons why people seek medical care. There have been many advances in the treatment of back pain over the years, from minimally invasive approaches to non-surgical treatment options. Each case is different and some options are better than others depending on the conditions associated with the problem.
